Char Box is a residential sauna tucked between an existing home and a glade of towering trees. The building utilizes an existing concrete wall and outdoor shower to create a seamless experience that feels worlds away from its suburban context.
The design takes cues from the swaths of burnt forests in the mountains of northeastern Oregon. The upper portion of the siding peels away like charred bark, revealing the warm tones of the protected wood below and providing access to the interior.
