reflective entrance

Our clients approached us to design a covered entrance for their home, which had no protection over their front door when they purchased the home. They requested that the new structure blend into the existing landscape and maximize light into the home. We designed a dateway comprised of two main components: a steel structural frame and a mirror-finished suspended canopy. This strategy gave us an unobstructed plane that turned into a pool of reflective when clad in a mirror-finished stainless steel. These surfaces effectively bounce natural light into the home's interior and paint the entry with its surroundings.

Timber Shop is an open-air woodworking space that reuse a pre-existing garden shed. The project utilized the existing concrete foundation and a stem wall as the anchor for a new cantilevered timber-framed roof that shelters a flexible workspace below. The new structure was built from locally sourced timber—including material sourced and milled directly on-site. This design approached eliminating the need for ground disturbance, minimizes new materials use, and reduces landfill waste.
