Char Box
The Char Box is a residential sauna tucked between an existing home and a glade of towering trees. The building placement makes use of an existing concrete wall and outdoor shower to create a seamless experience that feels miles away from its suburban context.
The design takes ques from our experiences in swaths of burnt forests in northeastern Oregon. The upper portion of the siding peels away like charred bark revealing the warm tones of the protected wood below and provide access to the interior.
Small moments are important.
