OVERVIEW
Studio Nocturne is an award-winning architecture and design studio grounded in alpine aesthetics, sustainability, and client-centric solutions. The studio’s expanding portfolio of distinct projects displays a balance of pragmatism and art. We serve clients across the country from our location in Western Washington.

Our work is defined by a rigorous methodology rather than a particular style or building type. We meet each project on its own terms rather than assert our own assumptions. We strive to answer our client’s problems in the most direct manner possible through in-depth artistic investigation. The solutions we find become materialized in durable built forms that exceed standards for sustainability and environmental stewardship.

We believe that great architecture is an expression of understanding—understanding our clients’ needs, ideas, and dreams, as well as the constraints of site, material, time, and cost. This thoughtful, client-focused approach ensures that every design reflects individual aspirations of each project.  We provide a full-service experience for our clients, leading them through all stages of a project.

We do not create for the sake of novelty; instead, we craft spaces for the way people live. Every space has a story, and every form has a reason.

What our clients say about us
“Studio Nocturne was great to work with on our 20 unit townhome project. Clever design was required due to complicated site constraints, which included a wetlands buffer, heritage trees, and prominent street frontage. Studio Nocturne’ss attention to detail enabled us to achieve (and surpass) the expectations of our business plan for the property.”
- Hugh
...in a few iterations we quickly decided on the final approach, which created a truly “WOW” design by utilizing novel materials to achieve an “opaque transparency” with ingenious reflections that maximize light getting into our wide window front adjacent to the entrance while making the construction virtually disappear... The final outcome exceeded our expectations: Neal’s work along with the craftsmanship of the contractor resulted in an entrance that looks beautiful, simple, surprising – and gives us joy every day.”
- Bernd
